For Christmas Nolan got me a subscription to Escape Monthly. It’s like Birch Box in that you get a new box of goodies every month, but the Escape Monthly boxes are filled with products, snacks and other content specific to a vacation location. January’s box was from Italy and, among other Italian things, included a jar Nocciolata.

This weekend I made this Nutella banana bread, but I used the Nocciolata instead of Nutella. According to the recipe I ate about 6 servings of it yesterday, it was that good. #winning

On Friday night we went to a friend’s house to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Last year the husbands cooked us dinner, which included  excellent grilled lobster tail and steak. None of us had ever done lobster tail so we had to YouTube how to prepare it and surprisingly it turned out fab!

So this year the wives were in charge of dinner (except the steaks that were grilled- Thanks Tab!). My favorite was the bacon-wrapped goat cheese & asparagus and my least favorite were these Gooey S’mores.

Problem #1: The recipe doesn’t tell you what to do with the second half of the batter.

Problem #2: We were in and out of the oven making the appetizer dips, garlic bread, baked potatoes and asparagus.

Problem #3: I always lose when making brownies.

Problem #4: The toothpick test fails because of the Hershey’s in the middle.

Problem #5: The marshmallows were toasty brown but the inside was raw.

Next time I’d try something different, like this, this or this.
