This past weekend I made this Boston Cream Pie Cake and it was fab! I followed PDXfoodlove’s recipe except I used a yellow cake mix, but everything else was from scratch.

NOTE 1: Follow directions, let the chocolate completely cool. The picture below is from PDXfoodlove, because I didn’t let the chocolate completely cool the topping slid off the top of the cake, down the side, onto the plate and onto the counter. It did end up like a completely frosted cake but made for a mess. Nolan and I ate the rest of it last night and the hardened chocolate was much better. It formed a hard layer on the outside but as soon as it went into your mouth the chocolate melted into a creamy awesomeness.
NOTE 2: The filling appears to be a really thick layer compared to the cake, it’s suppose to be that way.
