We were in Atlanta for less than 24 hours last week before our flight to Grenada, but still managed to visit two blog-worthy restaurants. Vacation calories don’t count, right?

BBQ Lunch

After checking into our airport hotel I searched for places to walk to for lunch. We decided on Pit Boss BBQ, which was less than a mile away.

You know it’s a good sign when the line is out the door. Our cold Minnesota bodies loved waiting outside in the 78-degree weather. It’s also a good sign when they are out of items already, like the Best Bet Brisket Sandwich that Nolan tried to order. Instead, he he ordered the Spare Ribs with a side of corn bread and mac and cheese. He gave them a solid 7/10.

I ordered the Smothered BBQ Chicken Sandwich. The thing was a monster! I dipped the chicken that fell out into their amazing medium sauce. I didn’t realize that I prefer vinegar based BBQ sauce.

With full bellies we walked back to the hotel and hung out on the patio. I love the first day of vacation!

One Eared Stag

We weren’t super hungry for dinner, so we decided to go to One Eared Stag for some appetizers. I loved the decor of the restaurant!

We sat at the bar and I ordered some French wine that was on happy hour special and Nolan ordered some local beer. Their menu changes daily, so each visit is a unique experience.

Again, we weren’t that hungry, so we ordered the stracchino cheese plate and the short rib tartare. I loved the creamy cheese with the olive oil and salsa verde.

Then, we overheard someone at the table over asking about the not-on-the-menu burger that’s made with 20% bacon and 80% beef. How could we not try that?

Their frier was down, so the burger was served with a salad instead of french fries. Ha! Back to the burger, it was amazing! It was like eating a bacon cheese burger without trying to perfectly stack the bacon onto the burger for the perfect burger/bacon/cheese ratio.

What a meaty way to start a vacation.
