We celebrated the 4th of July by touring Musée d’Orsay. It’s surprising how many Statue of Liberties are around Paris. Inside the d’Orsay we took the quick selfie in front of one to celebrate our Independence Day.
Don’e get me wrong, the Louvre is an amazing museum, but Musée d’Orsay quickly took the #1 spot in our minds. It’s in a converted transit station, so it’s not as big. Plus we loved the impressionist paintings.
The center “galley” makes it look like it’s one two levels, but there are actually several floors of artwork on either side.
One of the coolest things is the large clock that looks out over the river. I kind of wanted to kick these people out of the photos, but they actually provide a good reference for scale.
We once again used American Concierge and had our favorite tour guide, Virginie. I’m bummed we didn’t get a picture with her- she was the best! The entire trip I was spoiled by private tours! For my first time in Paris, it was definitely worth it!
As I mentioned we loved the impressionist painting! Many of the other original pieces were out at other exhibits, but we did see one Van Gogh. It was weird how everyone took pictures of pictures. 😛
Knowing we only had one more full day in Paris, we walked away feeling a bit sad but grateful for the experience.
