On a cold, rainy day this week I met my sister and her twin girls at Restaurant Alma in Minneapolis. While they battled traffic, I tried their Lost in Translation. It smelled like Christmas and tasted like a really light and spicy citrus fruit.

We all opted for the 3-course meal (they also offer a la carte) and started with the salmon tartare and spring vegetable & herb salad.

The girls gobbled up the tartare while my sister and I took a bit longer to finish our salads, that don’t look big, but were actually quite substantial.

For the second course we ordered the mung bean griddle cake, rabbit & ricotta angolotti and the crispy buckwheat crepe. I think the angolotti was the table’s favorite.

Between our middle course and entrées we had some time for some fish faces.

For our entrées we ordered duck two ways, the 12-hour beef brisket and the pan seared trout. Peyton claimed the only fish she liked is salmon, but she ate every last bit of the trout.

What’s dinner without dessert?

If I went back again I’d order the salmon tartare, rabbit & ricotta agnolotti and the duck two ways. Remember, families that braid together, stay together. <3
