The 2022 Charleston Reindeer Run was held downtown Charleston on Saturday, December 10th. Starting and finishing at Charleston Place Hotel, within perfect walking distance of our apartment. The race was short, fun and festive! There were lots of kids, costumes, strollers and dogs. It was cute seeing families racing (or walking) together to celebrate the holidays.

We got our packets the day before so the morning of, we just had to walk out of our apartment. The race started at 9am. Late by most runner standards, but it was only a 5k. I signed up with Nolan and a friend from the Charleston Fleet Feet group. Being from Minnesota, it’s still crazy to know I ran in a holiday run in shorts!

Like our recent Huffin for the Stuffin, we had to get a little festive. I wore this cute Santa tank top, my red Brooks shorts, and these Christmas socks (that I had purchased for Rocket City Half Marathon but never got to wear!). Nolan also got festive with his Snoopy t-shirt. We were a little warm at the end of the race, but then immediately froze.

The course was an out-and-back with a tiny loop around the battery. My time was 32:37 with 11:14/10:24/10:09/6:34 splits. (Always have to sprint the last 0.1 to the finish line. 😉 )After waiting in line for our post-race celebratory drink we headed inside Charleston Place to enjoy in the warmth. The walk back to the apartment in our sweaty clothes was not so enjoyable.
