The 2022 Huffin for the Stuffin 5k was at Fleet Feet Carnes Crossroads in Goose Creek, SC. The weather was perfect for running, in the low 50s and overcast. Nolan and I had a great race!
Thanksgiving is Nolan’s favorite holiday and what better way to kick-off the holiday than huffin it for 3 miles? I’ve done several Thanksgiving Day races, include my 10k PR at a Thanksgiving Day run in Cincinnati! There are a couple of Thanksgiving Day races in Charleston, but since I’ve been training with Fleet Feet I signed up for theirs.
2022 Huffin for the Stuffin
The route had a tiny loop through the Carnes Crossroad neighborhood. There weren’t too many people out cheering us on but the route was pancake flat! I was happy to see it had a little loop instead of an out-and-back. The roads weren’t closed but the neighborhood was very quiet.
Nolan and I ran together the entire time and achieved some good negative splits. There was a moment when I wanted to slow down (and Nolan would have), but then I decided to embrace the suck. We’ve both run faster 5ks, but for our current fitness levels, we were happy with a time under 30 minutes. 🙂
We were happy to be done and to receive a nice coffee mug instead of a medal. (The girl behind us must have wanted a medal?) My cute Thanksgiving shirt was a bit hot but manageable for 3 miles. We also got a long sleeve cotton shirt and of course a banana. 🙂
