WARNING PHOTO OVERLOAD!! After removing the cement footings we Nolan installed some square pavers at the bottom of the deck stairs.

The old deck didn’t have stairs, so this area was covered with wood chips and some landscaping. I thought I transplanted all the hostas, but you can see one tiny one got left behind.

Step 1: Remove random weeds, level dirt and install border.

Step 2: Call your dad to come to Home Depot because the pavers are too heavy to take in one car load.

Step 3: Put down base sand layer and use a hand tamper to get your aggression out. Make sure that little hosta gets some shade.

Step 4: Be a perfectionist in placing the first few pavers so that the rest line up. Use a rubber mallet to set them in place. photo 1 (7)

Step 5: Install 8, realize you screwed up, curse, stop taking pictures, redo all 8.

Step 6: Put down pea gravel in between pavers and call it a day.photo 3 (6)

Step 7: Call in spousal support and finish the job. photo 1 (6)

Step 8: Show Sophie, who treats it like hot lava. photo 2 (8)
