2019 Jingle Bell 5K

Over the weekend Nolan and I ran the 2019 Jingle Bell 5K in Covington, KY. It was Nolan’s target race from his couch-to-5K training. After running the Thanksgiving 5K in 33:33, his goal was to run it faster than 33:33.

2019 Jingle Bell 5K Recap

The course was almost the same as last year. It basically starts by going over the bridge, into Ohio, a few small loops, and then back over the bride to Kentucky. Climbing the bridge on the way back is tough, but as soon as we got over I knew Nolan was going to PR. 🙂 Nearing the 3 mile mark I asked him what he had left in the tank and his response was “All I have is two side aches.” Yet he picked up the pace and the remaining tenth of a mile we did at a 7:56 pace. Our official time was 31:08, 2:25 faster than his goal!

Celebrating Nolan’s PR

To celebrate Nolan’s great race, we went to one of our favorite Cincinnati breweries, Streetside Brewery. I’m not much a beer drinker anymore, but I really enjoyed their red velvet donut stout. Not a bad Saturday!
