I finally finished My Family and Other Animals! Nothing like a dysfunctional family story to entertain and amuse you. The majority of it was read on the patio, with glass of wine via a Queen Bee glass. So happy summer is finally here!

My Family and Other Animals: Amazon Description

When the unconventional Durrell family can no longer endure the damp, gray English climate, they do what any sensible family would do: sell their house and relocate to the sunny Greek isle of Corfu. My Family and Other Animals was intended to embrace the natural history of the island but ended up as a delightful account of Durrell’s family’s experiences, from the many eccentric hangers-on to the ceaseless procession of puppies, toads, scorpions, geckoes, ladybugs, glowworms, octopuses, bats, and butterflies into their home.

My Review

It took me forever to read My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell, but not because I didn’t like it. I started it way back when I got it from the library. But, then Becoming came in and I had two weeks to finish it. While I was reading that, Nolan started reading it. I was playing a musical chairs of sorts with my library books. 🙂

When I finally got it back, I was deep into Flying Pig Marathon training and the book’s tiny print was difficult to focus on. But, I picked up right where I left off. The family story is quite unique and the characters are hilarious! I can’t wait to watch the show on PBS.
