I recently finished listening to Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty via audiobook. It’a another book that wasn’t on my 2019 book list, but happened to be available via the library app right before a 6-hour car ride. While I liked the book, it wasn’t my favorite book by Liane Moriarty.

Nine Perfect Strangers: Amazon Description

Nine people gather at a remote health resort. Some are here to lose weight, some are here to get a reboot on life, some are here for reasons they can’t even admit to themselves. Amidst all of the luxury and pampering, the mindfulness and meditation, they know these ten days might involve some real work. But none of them could imagine just how challenging the next ten days are going to be.

My Review

I’ve read several Liane Moriarty books including Truly Madly Guilty, What Alice Forgot, The Husband’s Secret, and watched Big Little Lies on HBO. I really like her style of writing; it’s easy to read (listen to) and interesting enough to keep your attention.

Caroline Lee narrated this one and I loved her accents for all nine strangers. The story itself is about nine people who spend a week at Tranquillium House, a health resort promising it’ll “change their lives”. The unorthodox process puts them all in a tailspin. The process itself gets a little long. And the ending drags because it gives updates on almost all nine strangers after it’s all said and done. It’s not my favorite of Liane’s books, but I’d still recommend it!
