Sisters First by Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush, from my 2018 book list, is a super cute (and short) book that reminded me of how lucky I am to have an awesome sister. 🙂

Sisters First: Amazon Description

Born into a political dynasty, Jenna and Barbara Bush grew up in the public eye. As small children, they watched their grandfather become president; just twelve years later they stood by their father’s side when he took the same oath. They spent their college years watched over by Secret Service agents and became fodder for the tabloids, with teenage mistakes making national headlines.
But the tabloids didn’t tell the whole story. In SISTERS FIRST, Jenna and Barbara take readers on a revealing, thoughtful, and deeply personal tour behind the scenes of their lives, as they share stories about their family, their unexpected adventures, their loves and losses, and the sisterly bond that means everything to them.

My Review

I really enjoyed this book! If you have a sister, best friend or cousin that you grew up with or are close with now, you can relate. I wasn’t super close with my sister growing up; we are 5 years apart. Now that we’re (dare I say) old, we’re much closer and I cherish our relationship. We enjoy trying new restaurants, traveling together and generally making up for the mischief we didn’t get into as kids. But, back to the book…

Sisters First was a little repetitive, because Barbara would tell a story and then Jenna would tell the same story from her perspective. But, overall it was super cute and interesting to hear how they grew up with secret service always on their backs. They mention politics, but it’s not a political book. So I’d venture to say that regardless of your political standing, you could enjoy this book. Happy Reading!
