One of the things that sold us on our Cincinnati house was the covered patio off the back of the house. You can access it from the kitchen and the garage- perfect for grilling or grabbing a drink out of the garage fridge. The picture above shows it at its maximum sun exposure. Just enough if you want some rays, but mostly shaded.
In Shoreview we built a beautiful composite deck, but honestly, we didn’t use it that much. We kept the furniture covered all the time, so it was a pain to uncover and re-cover. We still have the furniture cover that we’ll likely use in the winter, but now, with a covered patio, we can leave it uncovered.
Our Covered Patio
It’s SO nice to pop outside to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a cold beer after work. (I’m actually writing this post while sitting outside with a glass of red wine– 😉 don’t mind the typos.) Besides having adult beverages, we actually use the patio almost everyday!
Which Sophie loves! She loves playing fetch, but we often have to remind her to lay down, rest, and drink some water. I swear that dog could go forever if you let her. I can tell when she is getting tired when she drags her feet jumping up to the patio.
The furniture itself is a little beat up. The table is metal with a faux wood paint, which has worn off in several places. The chairs are still in great shape, but the cushions are getting a little thin. I told you we use it a lot! I like the blue though, matches our roof.
Shall we talk about the two white elephants on our covered patio? 1. That wood carved beaver is Nolan’s and a nod to his alma matter- the Bemidji State Beavers. 2. Our new grill! It’s a REC TEC Wood Pellet Grill (RT-680) and deserves it’s own post, which is coming soon. But for now, I’m going to enjoy my glass of red wine. (I was out of rosé.)
