I’m happy to report that I crushed the 2018 Queen Bee Half Marathon! I didn’t PR or anything, but I felt wonderful, had negative splits and finished strong.

2018 Queen Bee Half Marathon

My official time was 2:13:52, 21 minutes faster than the Napa Half Marathon, and only 8 minutes slower than my PR at the Gopher to Badger Half Marathon in 2012. I am very happy with my time, I started off with the 2:20 pacers, hoping to finish in that range. I’m also happy to have achieved negative splits. My last two miles were under 10 minutes and I sprinted through the finish line.

The route was hilly at the beginning but was very flat along the river. Nolan was at mile 6 cheering us on. I ran with Melanie, a fellow tri-stater training for Indy, until about mile 11. We had similar race goals and strategy. The miles seemed to fly by! 🙂


The Swag + What I Bought

The 2018 Queen Bee Half Marathon swag was awesome! The bag, headband and shirt are all things I’ll wear/use. I’m excited for the Olay face lotion- we got a full-size container!

In addition to the free swag I bought a few items. Even though we’re approaching fall I liked this tank top. I bought a wine glass at the Nashville Marathon so I felt I needed to follow suit. The hat is the trucker-style, which I like for running and I think it actually fits my small head. 😛


The After Party

The 42-degree overcast weather was perfect for running, but not for standing around in sweaty clothes. We were all freezing, but I wasn’t about to leave before getting my finisher gift, a coffee tumbler, and my free mimosa!
