With summer over and fall just around the corner, what better time to suggest a pool/beach read? Ha! But seriously, it took me that long to finish this book. Not because it wasn’t good and not because it was difficult, it’s because I’ve been so darn busy!

Between three volleyball leagues, training for the Indianapolis marathon, decorating for fall, out-of-town visitors, and my trip to Napa I haven’t finished a book since American War back in early September! At this rate I’m never going to get through my 2018 book list.

The Cuban Affair by Nelson DeMille: Amazon Description

From the legendary #1 New York Times bestselling author of Plum Island and Night Fall, Nelson DeMille’s blistering new novel features an exciting new character—U.S. Army combat veteran Daniel “Mac” MacCormick, now a charter boat captain, who is about to set sail on his most dangerous cruise.

My Review

I kept waiting for a plot twist in The Cuban Affair, but it never appeared. It was very predictable, but not in a bad way. I think I read half of it while sipping some rosé while at the pool. The chapters were short, perfect for taking breaks to jump in the pool or roll over. So, when you book your winter getaway trip, put it on your Kindle to read by the pool.
