I’ve never been big on New Year Resolutions but I do strongly encourage setting goals and making plans to achieve them. Similar to the excitement of checking things off a list, setting and achieving goals gives you a boost in confidence and satisfaction.
Back in 2014 I made a mid-year goal to do more than 1,243 miles by the end of the year. I only did 1,094 and didn’t blog about it because I missed my goal. #Shame

Last year I only did 802! #Moreshame! At least my rate of decrease is holding steady at about 200 miles/year, so by 2019 I’ll be down to 0 miles- what will I do with all my time? 😉
The main reason my mileage has gone down is because I changed jobs in 2014. At my previous job there was a group of bike enthusiast, including these guys that I’d go on lunch rides with. Usually only 15 miles or so, but that adds up quickly when we were doing 2-3 rides/week. (Plus I did more rides with Nolan, like the Tour de Pines and Mesabi Trail.) Now, I’m traveling for work, squeezing in spin classes at Lifetime (which I wouldn’t normally record on mapmyride), and was on three spring volleyball leagues.
Last week I snuck in a 30-minute ride before dinner and I remember how much I love it. So I’m setting my goal of riding at least 802 miles this year to at stay on par with last year. Cycling is usually good through September, depending on the weather. So that leaves me about 11 weeks, requiring me to put in around 34 miles/week. This should be achievable, considering I could do it in one long weekend ride, as long as the winds aren’t too bad.
