Last December turned out to be a really busy month; I didn’t even publish my currently post until December 20th! Between painting our kitchen cabinets, the master bathroom remodel, getting ready for half of our house to be skim coated, and hosting Christmas we also went to Vegas in December!
We love Vegas all ways, with friends or just the two of us, Vegas in the middle of summer or Vegas in December. So when some friends of ours suggested a trip, followed up by a happy hour a few weeks later, a trip was born.
Topgolf
Last time we were in Vegas and played golf at Taylor Made Golf Experience and everyone asked why we didn’t do Topgolf. So, this trip it was #1 on my to-do list. “Topgolf is a four-level entertainment venue with interactive golf games that is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Players hit golf balls containing computer microchips that track each shot’s accuracy and distance while also awarding points for hitting targets on the outfield.”
It’s located within the MGM complex, so if you’re staying on the strip you can walk there. We stayed at Aria again and it probably took 20 minutes door-to-door. It was the perfect thing to do in Vegas in December! With the controllable heater in our “stall” we were very comfortable. That game itself was super easy and fun for even a non-golfer.
Restaurants
Besides gambling and shows, Vegas is known for its food! We’ve visited some really great restaurants there and this trip was no different. On the first night we went to Rao’s in Caesars Palace, where we had the best meatballs and I had a laughing attack. PS The meatballs are just as good (if not better) the following morning.
We also went to Craftsteak. It was our third time there and it’s still our favorite steak restaurant in Vegas. (And you know how we like our meat.) The buttery salted rolls, the amazing sides, the wine list and of course, the steak make it awesome restaurant. Cheers to some great oysters too!
Aria
We love walking through all the other casinos, but Aria has remained our favorite place to stay. It’s a good size, has all the games we like and the rooms are phenomenal. Vegas in December feels a bit more magical too because everything is decorated for Christmas. Just like everything else in Vegas, it’s all exaggerated, like these humungus trees in Aria’s lobby.
Windy Bus Ride
Note: The open-air bus tour is not a good idea in Vegas in December. It was too cold and super windy, but we prepaid and we wanted to see downtown Vegas.
We soon realized that between the cold and Dan’s bout of motion sickness we weren’t going to make it. So we hopped off at the Wynn, ate some lunch and played a few slots. Which, pretty much sums up our entire trip; going with the flow, eating, drinking and gambling. 😛
