Since I’m in-between marathon training, I’ve been walking Sophie more (see number 15). And for some reason I prefer to listen to books/podcasts when I walk and music when I run. So I’m sharing the podcast I’ve been listening to and a few audiobooks I’ve finished.
Criminal Podcast
Criminal is a podcast about all sorts of, you guessed it, criminal behaviors. Each episode is independent, so you can skip around depending on topic, length of episode, etc. My favorite episode lately include Money Tree #51, In Plain Sight #59, Vanish #61, and Witness #104. I haven’t listened to all of the episodes, but more than half and I’ve liked all of them.
I still listen to Young House Love Has A Podcast, but my other favorite podcasts have either been series (with clear ends) or been cancelled.
Unbound by Steph Jagger Audiobook
In the memoir Unbound, Steph Jagger quits her job, sells all her belongs and sets out to travel the world to ski four million vertical miles. You read that right, four million vertical miles. I bet I skied like 1,000 miles last time I was in Colorado. Her stories are remarkable, funny, and as you can expect, full of courage and determination. If you liked Cheryl Stray’s Wild (I did), you’d like Unbound.
American Fire by Monica Hesse
I first heard about American Fire on Young House Love Has A Podcast, but it was also one of NPR’s best books of 2017. The story takes place in Accomack County, which has hundreds of abandoned buildings and a police force too thin to monitor them all. Making it an arsonist’s playground. It is a great true-crime story that I’d often want to continue listening to after returning from a Sophie walk.
When Life Give You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger
When Life Gives You Lululemons is a cute book about a woman who gets set up, but goes on the offense with the help of two girlfriends. #girlpower It was cute and entertaining.
Juror #3 by James Patterson
I’m not going to lie, I listened to Juror #3 back in September and I can’t remember a thing about it. I reread the summary on Amazon and that refreshed my memory. The memory of how dull it was. 🙁 That said, it did the trick of distracting me, but I can’t say I’d recommend it.
Christmas Music
I couldn’t write a post about what I’m listening to in December and not mention Christmas music! I wanted to start listening to it on the drive to the Indianapolis Marathon, but Nolan said no. (The picture was before I asked him.) But every since the day after Thanksgiving it’s been playing pretty much nonstop at our house. Classics, Country, Pop… I like all varieties.
