I’m so excited about our new bar stools! It’s really nice to have a spot to sit in the kitchen, whether you’re eating, making zoodles or drinking a glass or rosé after a long day of work. 🙂
Our Shoreview house had an eat-in kitchen/breakfast nook area as well as a dining room. Our Cincinnati house only has a dining room and a breakfast bar. So, when we moved in we put the small breakfast nook bar into the office (read more about the office furniture situation) and the extra dining room chairs into storage. Leaving the breakfast bar bare and lonely.
The photo above is from the original listing. The breakfast bar is the part of counter between the kitchen and living room. We were both excited about having some counter height seating available in the kitchen! It’s the small things sometimes. 🙂
Finding the Bar Stools
I wanted cushioned, nailhead, fabric bar stools with arm rests and backs. I wanted to go all out. Nolan wanted something without a back and that swiveled. I caved at the swivel idea, because then you swivel toward the TV when whoever is cooking starts to annoy you. We looked high and low, but couldn’t find anything that fit the bill and fit the budget. Until we found these on Amazon. Leave it to Amazon to solve all our problems.
Caring for our Bar Stools
After unboxing them, the first thing we did was put felt pads on the bottom of them to protect our wood floor. The second thing we did was to apply two coats of Scotch Guard to protect them from the occasional spill- you know, when someone swivels too fast. I was afraid it would make the cushions stiff, but it didn’t at all!
Other details- the wine picture is from about a million years ago, aka our Minneapolis house. The little white cube is a sensor for our ecobee thermostat. And finally, the Christmas cactus was a gift from my great grandma Alice. Since moving here it’s sprouted several new buds so I think it’s happy with it’s new home. More kitchen pictures to come, once I figure out a color scheme…
