I’ve gotten into the habit now of writing up a monthly currently post to share all sorts of little tidbits that alone probably don’t constitute an entire post, but worth sharing nonetheless. This month I’m talking about parties, books, and easy summer recipes!
Partying
In addition to two birthday parties, I went to my friend’s gender reveal party. It’s a girl! The picture above is of us after waiting out a small thunderstorm, stuffing our faces with tacos, and sweating from the high humidity. Next time I’ll get a picture before we melt (and wear longer shorts).
Reading
What Alice Forgot
My hairdresser recommended this and I read the entire thing while we were in Vegas. It’s very similar to her other books. More vacation books here.
The Rosie Project
I finally finished this one. It was an easy read, but other books kept creeping in on this one.
100 Illustrated Bible Verses
This is the first book that I’ve purchased in awhile. It contains 100 of the most meaningful verses from the bible, illustrated with beautiful hand-lettering.
“Reading”
By “reading” I mean listening to an audiobook in my car. Before I started listening to The Nest, my commute was really getting under my skin. Even if I had a good day I’d be grumpy by the time I got home. A good book distracted me just enough to stop thinking about all the things I’d rather be doing than sitting in traffic. Now, I’ve been known to sit in the garage for several extra minutes to get to the end of a chapter. Right before our week at the cabin I finished Where’d You Go, Bernadette and I’m so sad it’s over!
Cooking
I made another batch of homemade dog treats, but this time I followed this recipe, which includes coconut oil. They don’t melt as fast in your hand and Sophie loves them.
I also made these classic 7-layer bars for the aforementioned gender reveal party and this healthy Apply Cranberry Spinach Salad with Pecans, Avocados and Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing for a girl’s-night-in at my house.
