Unlike last year, when we went out for steak, we’ll be cooking up a Thanksgiving meal at home this year! But my table will not be as pretty as Living with Landyn’s was last year.

The Turkey

We’ll be making this maple bourbon smoked turkey on our Rec Tec. Despite the {really} lack luster photo, the recipe has a 5-star review. I’ll try to capture a better photo- if I don’t get carried away with bourbon quality control. 😉

The Mashed Potatoes

The mashed potatoes will be done on the grill as well. One of the smoker recipes we love is the smoked jalapeño mashed potatoes, so I’m guessing this will be similar, but milder. Perfect with all the other flavors on the plate.

The Carrots

I love cooked carrots and these glazed carrots are simple and can be made ahead and kept warm in the oven.

The Cranberries

Nolan is also making up his Jalapeño Cranberry Chutney, which is from a recipe he found back in 2012. It includes fresh cranberries, sugar, jalapeños, lemon juice and sherry. I like it on turkey, crackers, in phyllo cups, or over cream cheese.

The Corn

Remember how I boasted about this Mexican creamed corn recipe? Welp, I made the executive decision to add it to our Thanksgiving meal. I’ll skip the jalapeños but I’ll keep the rest the same.

The Stuffing

My MIL usually makes the stuffing, so this year I might just whip up this. Don’t judge. 😛

Guest Chefs

This year we’ll be hosting my FIL and our neighbor. Glen is driving into town from Minnesota and our neighbor is unable to fly back to her family in Oregon this year. Glen will be making some yummy pies and our neighbor is brining the green bean casserole.  Because, what is a Thanksgiving meal without green bean casserole?
